Paschim Gabberia High School, located in the Gorerhat area of Joynagar, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, was established in 1957 with the aim of providing education to children in the remote areas of the Sundarbans. The founding members included Late Kashinath Mandal, an eminent teacher; Late Dhirendranath Mandal, an advocate; and Late Ramendranath Ghosh, a freedom fighter. Additionally, land for the school was donated by Late Manikantha Biswas, Late Ramendranath Ghosh, and Late Uddhab Chandra Mandal Initially, the school operated in a modest mud structure. Over time, it has developed into a well-equipped institution with three and four story buildings, science and geography laboratories, a computer room, and a playground. A stage is also available for cultural functions .
The school was recognized as a 4-class Junior High School on January 1, 1962, and was upgraded to a 10-class High School on January 1, 1965. Further, it became a Higher Secondary (Class XII) institution on July 1,
